A 23-year-old man has been charged with recording a video of a juvenile engaged in a sex act after police investigated reports of a “Peeping Tom” at a Morris County apartment complex, authorities said Wednesday.
Melquan M. Vargas, of the Budd Lake section of Mount Olive, was arrested and charged Friday with three counts each of creating and possession child pornography, three counts of invasion of privacy and stalking, police said in a statement. Police also said they found a pound of marijuana when they searched his residence in the Hensyn Village apartment complex.
A video on Vargas’ cell phone showed a child in a “prohibited sexual act,” according to Mount Olive police.
Police earlier arrested Vargas on separate marijuana possession charges on Jan. 16 as part of an investigation into “peeping Tom” incidents at the apartment complex that began late last year.
Vargas was taken to the Morris County jail.
